When I became old enough to drive my desire to travel became strong. I was broke and couldn't go far. I decided to focus on my own home state. I had realized that I had lived in this state my whole life but knew little about the many great places that were around me. Every summer I would choose a few places to visit during my vacations. Because I had a passion for photography I made sure I always had my camera with me.
During these years I visited some amazing places and had hundreds of awesome photographs that captured the beauty of these places. These photos just collected in folders and never saw the light of day, well, some did become desktop backgrounds for my PC!
A few months ago, around late winter, I had an idea about what I could do with these photographs. Publish a book! I jumped on it pretty quickly but it did take countless days and nights to create it. Sometimes I would go 48 hours without sleep. It was important for me to get these books published as quickly as possible.
When I finished the book it was suppose to be a print book. It was two volumes and each had 240 pages. Each chapter was a different place that I had visited. I included direction to the location, a brief history of the area, and my personal experience while visiting. The books were mostly photographs with limited writing. It was my goal to give more of a visual tour than written.
When I proceeded to publish, the printer notified me that the retail cost would be over $200 per book! There is no way anyone would spend that. I had to think creatively. That's when I thought of Amazon Kindle. I decided to divide the book into four parts. Each would feature a few places. I would also price them low so that people could afford to get all four parts. The final version of the Kindle books were better than I thought they would be. The images look so beautiful on the pages. The books really do show Connecticut in way that many have not seen before or even knew about.
My books are not based on political nonsense or any individual. It is based on the geographical beauty of this tiny state. It is based on great places that anyone could visit. It's about the beauty of New England and The United States.
I also was able to find a way to make print books available as well. It is a two volume set which feature a lot less images than I originally planned. I had to make sure I got the retail price down closer to a more reasonable cost. In all honestly I think having a print book copy is a far better way to really showcase these gorgeous images on full color pages. The print books are stunning in my opinion.
If you love the beauty of New England and The United States than this book is worth a read. It shows various places in Connecticut that you may not have seen or even knew about. Connecticut Unseen is exactly that; unseen images from the Nutmeg State.
